  • Most of the time, no. Idaho is a direct access state, which means that a patient can be evaluated and treated by a Physical Therapist without having a referral.  However, some insurances may still require a referral and preauthorization before you are treated, so please check with your insurance before scheduling. Medicare and Medicaid patients always need a referral to be seen for treatment. 

  • Yes, as a patient you always have the choice on who you choose for physical therapy services, no matter who your primary care provider puts on the referral. Just bring your referral with you and receive an elevated physical therapy experience at Elevate208.

  • During your first visit, your physical therapist will perform a thorough examination to assess your condition and determine the best course of treatment. Please wear loose fitting clothing that you can easily move around and perform exercises in.

    • Your photo ID

    • Your insurance card

    • Your referral or prescription from your physician, if you have one. â€‹

  • Our initial evaluations and follow-up visits will last an hour, one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. 

  • Dry needling is the insertion of a thin filament needle into dysfunctional tissue to stimulate healing, reduce tissue tension, decrease pain, and return muscle to its normal physiological state. Unlike acupuncture, dry needling requires thorough medical evaluation/diagnosis and focuses on restoring proper function to specific areas of the body. In fact, research shows that dry needling has long-term effects on pain and disability similar to platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections and has superior outcomes when compared to cortisone injections. â€‹
